Problem is that Fire is the most resisted element in the game so a pure pyromancer would benefit by carrying some dark weapons. Any points put into Int/Faith also boosts fire damage so any Hexer, sorcerer or cleric can also make a good pyromancer.
SCHOOL OF MAGIC 2 UPGRADE
Pyro is the school that requires the least dedication, just upgrade the Pyro flame and put points into Attunment. Sometimes I like fucking around with Sorcerer's Twinblade, it's by no means a high tier weapon but it's very fun to use two-handed with spells like soul flash, shockwave, and soul greatsword on the R2 to force knockdown and mix up pressure. Then I spice Dark Greatsword down to 40 int just for fun even though it's not that good.

You can use King's Crown or Black Hood to get an extra 4 levels in int/fth so you only actually need 38/28. It lets you have the ability to attune soul spear and do sorcery when you want magic damage, or just use dark orb and have 3 affinity orbs, as well as cast great magic barrier, great heal, and whatever pyromancies you want. That's what my main high level character is. Honestly I would say eventually shoot for 40 int, 30 faith, starting with pure int at lower levels to get to 40 ASAP for Soul Spear + Dragonrider Bow (aka unlimited soul arrows) combo and then catching faith up in NG+. You could even be a dual-wielding "Fire and Dark" themed character if you wanted to. Pyromancy does have some flashy spells, but the beauty of it is that it can be used in tandem with any of the other 3 schools.

And then most enemies AND players tend to have lower dark resist than fire resist. It can hard counter sorcery, has better offensive options than miracles, and has high resistance to all elemental types. Sorcery is pretty great overall for PvE, especially a spellblade build, but dark is almost unquestionably the best, particularly for PvP.
